In the draw last night , Saturday 9th January 2016 no ticket holders matched the main ball numbers of 16-19-32-34-57 and the Powerball of 13 and thus the $949.8 million jackpot was not won.
No ticket holders won the first prize but twenty eight lucky ticket holders won the second prize by matching the five main balls .
The lucky second prize ticket holders came from :
Arizona ( x 2) , California ( x 6) , Connecticut (x 2 – 1 with Powerplay ) , Florida , Georgia , Iowa , Maryland , Massachusetts , Michigan ( x 3 ) , New York ( x 3) , Ohio ( x 2 ) , Pennsylvania , Texas ( x 3 -2 with Powerplay ) and Virginia.
The six second prize ticket holders from California won $779,264 each , the three second prize ticket holders who had selected the Powerplay option on their entry ticket won $2 million each with the remaining nineteen second prize ticket holders winning $1 million each .
The Powerball Lottery jackpot will therefore rollover to an estimated $1.3 billion ( $806 million in cash) in the next Powerball Lottery Draw which will be drawn on Wednesday 13th January 2016.
