Regular blog readers will be aware that in our coverage of the ever increasing Megamillions Jackpot in the past week or two we mentioned that the Megamillions Jackpot has been won in January at least once in every year since 2005 , so surely worth a punt this month and sure enough , it’s happened again !
News reaches Lotto Central HQ this morning from across the pond that last night the Megamillions Jackpot of $270 million ( $177.3 cash ) was won by a single ticket holder from Illinois ! This is the first Megamillions Jackpot won by an Illinois ticket holder since May 4th 2012 ( did the winner say ” May 4th be with you ?” ) and only the eighth Megamillions Jackpot win by an Illinois ticket holder since the official commencement of the Megamillions Lottery Draw in 2002.
The Megamillions numbers drawn on Friday 16th January were 26-32-44-45-58 with the number of the Megaball being 11. In Friday night’s draw one ticket holder matched the five main numbers and Megaball and scooped the $270 million jackpot .
In Friday night’s draw there were also two lucky ticket holders who claimed a second prize by matching 5 main balls – the lucky winning second prize ticket holders came from Florida and New York and won a not too shabby $1 million each.
So with the massive $270 million jackpot won it’s back to a $15 million estimated jackpot in the next Megamillions Lottery Draw which will be drawn on Tuesday 20th January 2015 – still worth a punt in our opinion , the Lotto Central team are beginning to like this one !
